The Tourism, mining, business and community infrastructure in Labrador West will benefit from investments from the Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador. The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced a combined investment of $1,734,083 at an event in the region today.

Premier Ball Announces Changes to Structure of Government

Today the Provincial Government is taking steps to streamline the work of departments and agencies to deliver better management, more efficient planning and sound governance. As part of this restructuring a number of departments and agencies will be combined and five deputy minister roles will be eliminated which represents a 19 per cent reduction.

Over $6.2 Million Available for More Cost-Shared Infrastructure Projects
Municipal Affairs
An additional 14 cost-shared municipal infrastructure projects in Newfoundland and Labrador, valued at over $6.2 million, have been approved through the cost-shared Small Communities Fund. The Provincial Government is contributing more than $3.5 million to the projects; the Federal Government is providing over $2 million, and the remainder will be funded by the recipient municipalities.
Alleged Poachers Caught with 54 Illegal Salmon
