The event takes place at Star Hall, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General, will be available to speak with the media today (Wednesday, September 13) regarding the investigation results into the fatal shooting of Donald Dunphy on April 5, 2015.

Environment and Climate Change

The Honourable Perry Trimper, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, joined other Canadian and international colleagues earlier this month in Mexico for the Climate Change Summit of the Americas to discuss the challenges, opportunities and actions required to address this important challenge. The summit brought together sub-national government agencies and organizations from across the continent. Minister Trimper participated in two panel discussions, presenting Newfoundland and Labrador's perspective, and signed the Jalisco Climate Change Declaration on behalf of the province.

Advanced Education, Skills and Labour

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, attended the September 9 annual meeting of ministers responsible for labour in British Columbia to discuss labour standards and approaches, mental health in the workplace, flexible work arrangements, and employment and labour laws. MaryAnn Mihychuk, federal Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, co-chaired the meeting.

The Honourable Cathy Bennett, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, is joining community partners to proclaim Sexual Violence Awareness Week, September 12-16. Minister Bennett joined the Sexual Violence Awareness Week committee and other community members at a proclamation signing last week at the Multicultural Women's Organization of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, will be the guest speaker at a member luncheon of the Canadian Home Builders Association - Newfoundland and Labrador (CHBA-NL). National Forest Week begins September 18-24 and all Canadians are encouraged to learn more about the forest sector and to raise awareness about this valuable and renewable resource. To celebrate National Forest Week, the Forest Service of the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agrifoods is sponsoring its annual National Forest Week Poster Contest for Grade 5 students.

Investments announced by the federal and provincial governments during an event in St. Anthony on September 10, 2016, will help boost tourism on the Northern Peninsula. Gudie Hutchings, Member of Parliament for Long Range Mountains, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), along with the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, provincial Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, announced combined funding of more than $350,000 for St. Anthony Basin Resources Inc. (SABRI) for two projects in the region.

The tourism potential of the Rose Blanche area will be further enhanced with improvements to the Rose Blanche lighthouse and Barachois Falls Walking Trail, thanks to investments from the federal and provincial governments. Gudie Hutchings,Member of Parliament for Long Range Mountains,on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), along with the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, provincial Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, today announced more than $81,000 in funding for two community projects in Rose Blanche.
