The Honourable Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Member of Parliament for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced federal funding of $547,166 for four projects in the town while the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, announced a Provincial Government investment of $342,564 in two of these projects.

The Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs, congratulated Fire Chief Cecil Kerr of the Gilliams Volunteer Fire Department today on receiving the Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year Award from Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs. Chief Kerr received the award at an event hosted by the association during its Fire Rescue Canada Conference in St. John’s this week.

Public Information Assists in Investigation by Fish and Wildlife Enforcement

On September 22, fish and wildlife enforcement officers from the Roddickton and Corner Brook detachments conducted an operation in the Croque area of the Northern Peninsula. The Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division had recently received several complaints from the public of illegal night hunting of moose including hunting from vehicles after dark, using artificial lights, and shooting from vehicles.
