From west to east, and including many communities in between, the From This Rock Culinary Tour continues to offer a true taste of Newfoundland and Labrador’s freshly harvested ingredients. The tour is supported by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agrifoods and will visit 11 communities before the grand finale in St. John’s on November 3.

The T’Railway Provincial Park closure is extended from Gander to Mary March Brook, approximately 45 kilometres west of Badger. This section of the T’Railway is closed to all users due to damage caused by recent significant rainfall.
Province Recognizes 100th Anniversary of the Battle at Gueudecourt

The Provincial Government, through the Honour 100 Program, partnered with Veterans Affairs Canada to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle at Gueudecourt, France, which took place from October 10 to 12, 1916. A commemorative ceremony was held at the Newfoundland Memorial in Gueudecourt yesterday.

Now that communities are moving into the recovery phase of the recent rainfall event, and states of emergency are being lifted, residents and communities are advised that applications for the Newfoundland and Labrador Disaster Financial Assistance Program (NL-DFAP) are now being accepted.

Public Advisory: Updated Forest Access Roads with Moderate to Extensive Damage

The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agrifoods advises that some forest access roads in the central and eastern regions sustained moderate to extensive damage due to heavy rainfall. Individuals should use extreme caution when travelling on these roads, especially around culvert and bridge crossings.

The public is advised that due to flooding and heavy rains there are a number of roads that have been closed. It is advised that motorists stay off the road in regions that have experienced heavy rain, as not all hazards have been identified or marked at this point.

The Honourable Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, along with the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced measures to give Canadians greater access to more affordable housing. These measures include the doubling of current funding under the Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH), supporting affordable housing for seniors and victims of family violence, and addressing repairs of existing social housing. The total amount being invested in this initiative is $48.9 million.
