Provincial Government Releases Sex Trade Report

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is releasing a redacted version of the 2011 report titled It's Nobody's Mandate and Everyone's Responsibility: Sexual Exploitation and the Sex Trade in Newfoundland and Labrador as recommended by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.

Roads in Terra Nova Region Undergoing Rehabilitation Work

Roadwork valued at over $1.2 million is underway in the Terra Nova region as part of the 2015 Provincial Roads Program. The contract, awarded to J-1 Contracting Limited, includes road rehabilitation, paving and the installation of culvert concrete end treatments. All work is anticipated to be completed this construction season.

The Research & Development Corporation (RDC) is investing $592,535 in Technip Canada's High Performance Computing Centre to strengthen the province's capacity in riser design research and development (R&D). The Honourable Darin King, Minister Responsible for the Research and Development Corporation, made the announcement this morning during Technip's Technology Day in St. John's. The total project cost is $2,379,977.

The Honourable Vaughn Granter, Minister Responsible for the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency, announced in Corner Brook today a new Animal Hero Award which will recognize acts of kindness in society towards animals or acts of bravery by animals towards people. The award was created by the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency in partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Veterinary Medical Association and SPCA Newfoundland and Labrador.
