Contract Awarded for Construction of New Virginia Park Elementary

A contract valued at just over $6.9 million has been awarded to Magna Contracting and Management Inc. for completion of the new Virginia Park Elementary in St. John’s. The new school is being constructed adjacent to the existing Virginia Park Elementary.
Honour 100 Supports First World War Aviation Exhibit

The Provincial Government, through the Honour 100 Grant Program, has provided the 150 (North Atlantic) Wing Royal Canadian Air Force Association $15,000 to assist with the construction of a First World War aviation exhibit. The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, was at the St. John’s International Airport earlier today for the exhibit’s official opening.

More than 1,000 post-secondary students will gain valuable work experience this summer with $1.95 million in funding provided by the Student Summer Employment Program - Post-Secondary. The program allows private sector employers and not-for-profit organizations to avail of a wage subsidy to help them hire post-secondary students for the summer months.
