TORONTO — Following the federal legalization of cannabis on October 17, Ontario will immediately introduce an online retail channel for cannabis, to be followed by a private retail model by April 1, 2019.

Starting today, 87 more grocery stores across Ontario can sell beer and cider, increasing convenience and choice for consumers.

Ontario is continuing to take steps to create more opportunity for producers of craft beer by supporting the growth of small breweries in local communities across the province.  

Ontario is reminding people to file their taxes by April 30, so they can get applicable tax credits and benefits on time.

Today the government released the 2018 Budget, which includes significant new investments in health care, child care, home care and mental health, and new measures to create more job opportunities for people across the province. The Budget also focuses on initiatives that make life more affordable and provide more financial security during a time of rapid economic change.

Ontario is committing to a long-term funding agreement with the horse racing sector, supporting jobs in rural Ontario and strengthening local economies across the province.

Ontario is stepping up support for municipalities and law enforcement to help ensure communities and roads are safe in advance of the federal government's legalization of cannabis.

Ontario has signed an agreement-in-principle with the Anishinabek Nation on community-based regulation of tobacco and revenue-sharing to support community growth and prosperity. 

Charles Sousa, Minister of Finance, announced today that he will deliver the 2018 Ontario Budget on March 28. The Budget will outline the government's plan to create more fairness and opportunity for everyone and help families manage the costs of caring for their loved ones.

The ministers responsible for capital markets regulation in British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Yukon, and the Minister of Finance of Canada, are pleased to announce the selection of Mary Condon as an initial director of the proposed Capital Markets Regulatory Authority (Authority). Pending its establishment, Ms. Condon has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Capital Markets Authority Implementation Organization (CMAIO).
