Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will chair the 2016 Winter Meeting of Canada’s Premiers on March 2 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver.

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, will bring greetings at the opening of Oil and Gas Week on Monday, February 22. The event will take place at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University beginning at 11:00 a.m. Minister Coady will speak at approximately 11:15 a.m.

The Honourable Perry Trimper, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

Colin Holloway, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, will attend the fifth Annual Mid Winter Bivver dinner and gala tomorrow (Saturday, February 20) at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Grand Falls Golf Course in Grand Falls-Windsor.

This is to advise that a scheduled upgrade of the Newfoundland and Labrador Prescription Drug Program (NLPDP) Claims Adjudication System will result in the system being unavailable to pharmacies between tomorrow (Saturday, February 20) beginning at 9:00 p.m. until Sunday, February 21, at 7:00 a.m.

Environment and Conservation

The Provincial Government began a census of five woodland caribou herds on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland this week as part of ongoing research and monitoring to ensure sustainable management of the caribou population.

Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs

Water system operators, municipal administrators and elected officials are invited to register for the 15th annual Clean and Safe Drinking Water Workshop, March 22 to 24 at Hotel Gander. The event is an opportunity to learn about the processes that are vital to the delivery of clean and safe drinking water in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, joined with Lisa Dempster, MHA for Cartwright - L’Anse au Clair, students and staff today to celebrate the official opening of William Gillett Academy in Charlottetown, Labrador.

Health and Community Services

A new treatment centre for adults dealing with complex alcohol and drug addiction issues was officially opened this morning in Harbour Grace. The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, was joined by officials with Eastern Health, community stakeholders and Pam Parsons, MHA for the District of Harbour Grace - Port de Grave, to open the Grace Centre. The Grace Centre will offer a holistic approach to treatment for people who are 18 years of age and older.

The event takes place at the Grand Falls-Windsor Legion, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Minister Coady will be joined by the Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Transportation and Works and MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor-Buchans.

The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Transportation and Works, will speak at the opening luncheon of ConAtlantic’16, a joint annual conference of the Atlantic Concrete Association and the American Concrete Institute (Atlantic Chapter), being held in St. John’s this week.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s Find Yourself tourism marketing campaign has won the Best in Show at the 2015 Adrian Awards, which is presented by Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI). Best in Show is HSMAI’s highest honour and is selected from platinum winners in the advertising, digital marketing and public relations categories.

On Tuesday, March 8, His Honour Frank F. Fagan, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, will reconvene the House of Assembly for the First Session of the Forty-Eighth General Assembly.

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, will officially open the new adult addictions treatment centre in Harbour Grace on Thursday, February 18. The ceremony will take place at the centre located at 50 Lady Lake Drive in Harbour Grace at 9:00 a.m.
