A Chester-based company that turns municipal waste into valuable products is receiving a $100,000 seed investment from Innovacorp to take its technology to market.

Environment -- The Department of Environment issued a precautionary boil water advisory today, Feb. 3, for Chester. The advisory is for homes and businesses within the boundaries of Central Street to Water Street and from Union Street to South Street.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. -- Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has approved a business development incentive, in the form of a payroll rebate, for Oxford Frozen Foods Limited.

Natural Resources -- Spring will come early, according to a prediction made today, Feb. 2, by Nova Scotia's famous groundhog, Shubenacadie Sam. The furry forecaster came out of his hut and did not see his shadow. Folklore says that means a shorter winter.

Communities, Culture and Heritage -- Nova Scotians are once again getting the chance to further their study of Gaelic language and culture in Scotland.

Community Services -- The Department of Community Services office located at 161 Terra Cotta Dr., New Glasgow, is closed today, Feb. 1, due to a power outage.

Justice -- A man was found deceased in his cell at the Cape Breton Correctional Facility today, Jan. 31.

Communities, Culture and Heritage -- Premier Stephen McNeil announced today, Jan. 30, support of up to $3 million for the creation of the Windsor Hockey Heritage Centre. The state-of the-art building will include an ice rink, sports fields, an indoor track and a museum that will tell the story of hockey in Canada.

Service Nova Scotia -- Access N.S. Centres in Halifax, Dartmouth and Sackville will close at 3:00 p.m. today, Jan. 29, due to a winter storm.

Communities, Culture and Heritage -- The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Museum of Natural History, and Nova Scotia Archives in Halifax will close at 3 p.m., today, Jan. 29, because of expected storm conditions.

Executive Council -- Provincial government offices in Metro Halifax and Halifax County will close at 3 p.m., today, Jan. 29, due to a winter storm.

Premier's Office -- The offices of Planning and Priorities and Executive Council have been merged into a single, integrated Executive Council Office, Premier Stephen McNeil announced today, Jan. 28.

Health and Wellness -- A list of grants announced today in the Annapolis Valley follows this release. Young people in the Annapolis Valley are getting active through After the Bell programs in West Hants, Wolfville, New Minas, Canning, Berwick and Kentville.
